Collaboration with IWCA: Compilation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration Projects

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate action in the wine sector, we have established a collaboration with International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) to participate in the first compilation of soil organic carbon sequestration projects promoted by IWCA.

The objective of this initiative is to identify and give visibility to the soil organic carbon sequestration (SOC) projects that are being carried out in the wine sector. The result will be a valuable document, which will include relevant information on the methodologies used to calculate SOC sequestration, the amount of carbon sequestered, among other aspects.

This is an excellent opportunity to value the innovative work of our members and strengthen collaboration with our partners. We encourage all partners who have not yet done so to participate in this project.

Here are the steps to follow to participate:

  1. Carefully review the attached documents to understand the scope of the project. The Template (you can download it here) includes specific instructions for completing the table.
  2. Select the soil carbon sequestration project you want to present (reforestation is not included, as the focus is exclusively on the soil). The project must be as recent as possible and have reached some conclusion, regardless of whether it is positive or not.
  3. Complete all the fields of the table and remember that the information provided will be public, so it is essential to make sure that you do not include confidential data.
  4. Send your project in PowerPoint format and copy it in the mail to our IWCA colleagues who coordinate the initiative (estartus@iwcawine.org; jribas@torres.es).

The deadline to participate is December 17. Thank you very much in advance for your participation in the project!
